Presented by Christina Krause, BCPSQC Executive Director and Faculty, Institute for Healthcare Communication Canada
This session is aimed at providing an understanding of the process of disclosure – an open and honest conversation that occurs when an event occurs in a patient’s health care, whether it results from the national progression of an underlying medical condition, inherent risks of an investigation or treatment or from a preventable adverse event. This session will provide an overview of the Canadian Disclosure Guidelines, the needs of patients and families during the disclosure process as well as exploring a framework for disclosure conversations.
